NTU

I checked my NTU results this morning and I'm quite pleased! Not with the fact that i'll still be a second lower. Or the fact that i missed it just by 0.06. Or the fact that I got a B for FYP. (But actually, I should be glad for that piece of crap. Hope it burns in hell forever.)

But, I thought I did quite well for clinical psychology!!! And throughout the whole course, I didn't try so hard to do well. I was truely interested in every lessons! Unlike other classes where I always keep my mouth shut, I was quite talkative in clinical psy! I was really curious about it! So interest is very important! No wonder it's the only subject I did well. haha! Thanks Clare!!!

So guess this pretty much sums up the end of NTU. Just a random thought. The best professor ever is Johnathan Marshall! hahhaa! He taught 2 classes of introduction to psychology when I was in year 1. What's interesting is that he doesn't teach according to the lecture notes! He talked casually about the topic (almost w/o ppt or any book). How cool is that! (reminds me of the profs in USA). He even did a live demo of hypnosis!!!

Apart from him, all the fun lecturers are those outside working professionals like Dr Majeed, Fred and Clare!!! They made classes so much more enjoyable than the usual BORING ones. hahaha!!!

Just about one more month to enjoy! The thought of work starts to depress me. But, I've got some interesting plans to look forward to! For one, I'm confirm going diving at the end of JUNE! How brave for someone who can't swim. I'm so excited! But also damn bloody scared. We'll see. I've got to try swimming!!!!!!! Someday!

Biscotti

Nigella's biscotti recipe (for Sharon)

May. 19th, 2010 | 01:19 am

Dear Sharon,

Breakfast Biscotti recipe: Nigella Lawson - Feast

Ingredients:
- 1 egg
- ½ cup superfine sugar
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- few drops almond extract
- ¾ cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ⅓ cup natural shelled almonds*

- ⅓ cup semisweet chocolate chips*

(* Reminder jx used cranberries and pistachios instead of almonds and choc chips. It's your call really.)

Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Whisk the egg and sugar until pale and moussily thick; I use an electric mixer here, as you want the mixture whipped enough so that when you lift the whisk attachment out of it, you are left with a trail of ribbons. Beat in the vanilla and almonds extracts, and then slowly fold in the flour, baking powder and salt.
- When the batter's all combined, fold in the whole almonds and chocolate pieces, and then form the dough into a loaf-like log of about 10 × 2 inches, slightly tapering the ends.
- Lay the biscotti log on to a piece of baking parchment on a baking sheet and cook for 25 minutes: it will be a pale brown color. Leave for 5 minutes to harden slightly, and then cut diagonal slants of about ½ in thickness along the length of the loaf to give finger-like pieces.
- Put these back on to the parchment paper covered baking sheet and cook again for another 10 minutes, turn the biscotti over and then cook for another 5 minutes. Let the golden brown biscotti cool on a rack and then store them in an airtight container ready to be plucked and dunked at a moment's anticipatory notice.

Also, check out step by step instructions
here. Good luck!

The above was posted on Huijia's blog! She's so damn sweet!!!
In Melbourne, Jiaxi made damn good biscotti. I told Huijia randomly that I want the recipe too. And she remembered!!!

Anyway, my biscotti was a failure. haha! The pictures should be posted on fail blog.
So much effort!!! I salute Jiaxi! Her biscotti were perfect!
Look at mine:
The was after the 1st baking process.
Had to slice it into many thin slices.
The after process.
My biscotti were way too fat! hahaha!
They look more like garlic bread.
I'm kind of proud of it.
It tasted nice! (but not Jiaxi's biscotti kind of nice. Hers was awesome!)
hahaha! One last shot.
I dunno what went wrong!!!
Think I didn't keep track of the time properly.
I'll try again soon!

Sam, u see this? Bake with me okay?!!!

Melbourne city!

This is where the adventure beings!
This piece of cheesecake almost cost Sam and I to miss our flight.
We were happily eating when we were supposed to board. haha!
It's damn hilarious at how retarded we were!

Yummy cheesecake!!!
Best so far that I've tasted!!!
Sam! My travel partner!!!
So cool that I'm going on a grad trip with my first friend in university!
One of the few friends that I really like!!!

Yes, others, u suck.
Our transit at Darwin airport.
It was 4 or 5am. Don't we still look awake? haha!

The ride to Darwin wasn't fantastic. I thought I booked an emergency exit seat!
But, I got it for my flight to Melbourne! Amazing!!! Better than normal plane flight!!!
$400+ for a huge seat, totally worth it!
And so we arrived!!!
I was using the internet for a bit while waiting for Shuling.
Such a pleasant surprise to find out that internet is free!
Our first meal!
Korean food near Shuling's apartment.
It's okay only. But there were lots of seafood!
The side dishes.
Nothing fantastic.
This was the 2nd day. We accompanied Shuling for her job interview.
It's so far away! Her friend's mom drove us there. So nice!
This shopping center is where Shuling went for her interview!
Sam and I walked around a bit.
This was the bus ride to Boxhill, a chinatown place.
The bus ride to there and back to her apartment was so long!
I love long bus rides!!!
The 3rd day! Outside Queen Victoria Market, with my new boots and coat!!!
Sam and Shuling, in the market.
The tags that Shuling and Sam made.
Shuling made one for her friend's dog. And she didn't tell the guy to not put the word "call". (the number were some dog ID number)
So she got pretty upset about it.
She went back to ask the guy to cancel the call word but thanks to me (!!!) I asked him to make a new one! I love it how I say things without thinking sometimes.
HAHA! That guy was really nice and he made a brand new one!!!
Shuling and I outside the stall!
We then went to brunetti cafe!
Yummy pastries!
Sam treated us! So generous!
My mocha!
Sam and I outside the clock tower.
We look so loving. haha!
Wonderful shot by Sam!
She managed to catch a tram as it went by.
Outside the state library!
Inside is fantastically beautiful!
Us making goofy faces!
I suck at it.
Our lovely smiles!
Mekong is a very popular and highly over-rated (according to Jiaxi) place.
It's quite good but there're better once!
I like it cos I was so hungry!
My pho beef noodle.
What the hell should I go with that stalk of plant?! haha! Eat it?!
This is Shuling's bowl. With leftover noodle.
This is Sam's bow. With leftover soup.
MY BOWL! WITH NOTHING!!!!!!! HAHA!
Shopping at Bridge Road.
My first western meal in Melb. Fish and chips!
MY FAVOURITE PLACE IN THE CITY!!!
CASINO!!!!!!! Crown casino is at the back.
My winnings!!!!! It's a very small sum. But still!!!!
Outside the state library, again!
My lunch (subway seafood sensational) outside the library!
Lots of seagulls! Weird. When there isn't any beach around.
My favourite cafe, cafe giraffe!
The layout is messy, yet cool!
The furnitures are all different.
We spent almost 4 hrs there!
What did we do? haha!
I wrote my diary!
Read an interesting book on prostitution in Singapore, by Gerrie Lim ( i think).
Look at the shelf! So much to do!!!
We played chinese checkers! I suck at it. haha!
Uno game!!!! That stupid never ending game. haha!
I think it's called aeroplane chess. We've no idea how to play it.
The instructions were all in Chinese! Too lazy to read.
We had hotpot for dinner!!!
Meisze (Shuling's housemate) and shuling had damn small stomach. haha!!!
I ate like a glutton!!!
Skip to the 2nd last day in Melbourne.
Shuling brought us to a Yum cha place! (Gold leaf)
She asked a couple of her friends along too!
They're pretty nice and friendly!
Sam and i again!
That night, we met Hui jia for our last dinner in Melbourne.
San churro was the dessert after our dinner at Hungry Jacks.
Looks really good!
But my throat was quite sore.
So I didn't enjoy as much.
The 4 of us! Such a pity JiaXi couldn't join us.
At the airport.
A very nice lady offered to take the picture for us!

Gotta mention another lady! Joy, the check-in counter lady was soooooooooooo nice! We went way too early for check-in. But she allowed us to wait behind the counter. And when it's time to check-in, we're the first! Everything went very smoothly! No overweight luggage!
Sam and her hot chocolate.
She treated me to mocha!!!! Appreciate so much!
Our plane ride to Darwin.
Very comfortable cos there wasn't any one beside me!

Our diaries! We write like mad!!!!
Sam's diary and her pretty lavender!
Our very last meal at Darwin airport.
Red rooster!!! Delicious!!! But a bit too rushing.

Okay! That's it for the city entry! MORE MORE MORE to come!!!
