Hong Kong 2011!!!

I went Hong Kong, again, last december! I'll never ever get sick of Hong Kong. Though the people there are rather rude, I love it there for the food and scenery! Maybe the Hong Kong people aren't rude. They're just very direct and straight forward when talking, thus unintentionally insulting other, aka, rude. haha! okay lame. It's just 1 or 2 who were quite mean. Lots of Hong Kong people are nice! Like Connie, this lady in my ex-dept. And the staff in Disney!

This time, I'm really glad to be able to meet my friend, yk, who stays there! He's super duper nice!!! He treated me to the street food snacks!!! And he told me a lot more about Hong Kong. Too bad no pic with him.

We arrived at 5am. I like the timing, but it's really bad for my parents and sisters. They hardly slept on the plane! I was okay cos I bought an eye mask. Stupid cathay served a meal at like 2am! The lights were so bright! Force us to eat. haha! Okay kidding abt stupid cathay. I like their spacious seats, food and movie selection!!! Just too bad I chose a bad timing flight. No more midnight flight with family!

I slept throughout the journey to the hotel. It was so short! Only an hr. Not shiok enough.

We wanted dim sum kind of food. But saha was so tired. So we went into a random food place. Not fantastic but okay.
See how tired I look! But so happy the uncle there called me "leng lui" (meaning pretty girl). Don't puke, I know. haha! In HK, every girls are called pretty girls and guys are called handsome boys. hahaha! My EYE BAGS!!!
It was way too early to check-in into the hotel. So we walked about the market. Quite interesting! We were a little more awake here. Esp my mom when she saw live chickens. She's damn scared of chickens. haha!

That concludes day 1.

After walking about in the market, it was about 10plus am. Parents were so tired. So we tried our luck by going back to the hotel. And we got our rooms! The people at Royal Plaza are so nice!!!

We slept from 10-3pm. Then walked to Mongkok where I met YK! I felt bad by leaving my family for my friend. They walked about themselves while YK brought me around. They went back to the hotel early to rest. SO bad of me.

DAY 2

We went to have really nice dim sum near our hotel! And the price was quite reasonable!
SUPER NICE FOOD! I look more alive right? haha!

We then went shopping at Argyle centre. It's amazing. I love their dresses!!! Just don't buy their bags or shoes. Poor quality!

We met our parents for dinner. I brought them to "tong shui",a famous, but a bit touristy dinner place. Good food! But ex.

I brought my family to the famous clock tower. We waited by the river for the laser show. I know it's lame. BUT I love the sea view!!!

The next day was DISNEYLAND DAY!

We were so kiasu. I made them wake up at like 7am! haha! Disney opens only at 10am. HAHA.
Breakfast! At some porridge shop. Our tao huay drink. I was so smart not to order. I drank theirs. haha!
I like the yew tiao. So crispy!

We then went Disney, while parents did their own shopping. ha! Abandoned parents once again. They should have gone Disney. It's such a happy place. But papa won't be too happy. Everything there is so ex!

The last day, we went to Lantau Island for big buddha. The queue was sooooo long. Saha got bored and started disturbing Shermeen. Shermeen got pissed and was so grumpy. haha! Stupid saha.

Dinner time, I brought my parents to the famous dim sum place! We waited so long. But it's highly recommended. So bo bian lor. hahaha!


The famous char siew bun was really good!!!!! But the others are okay only.

And the staff there are so rude!!! Apart from this lady, who kept calling us leng lui. hahaha!

But at least, we can say, we've been to a one star Michelin restaurant!

Our last morning. Breakfast at Kam wah can teng. It's famous too!

Shermeen was so lazy. haha! So it's just the 4 of us.

Lazy woman at work

Today, someone from another dept said she has to come down to check on the clerks. I said, okay, how about 5pm when there's less crowd. I was freaking disgusted by her reply, "Huh, but I end work at 5.30pm". What the hell?!!! End a bit late will die?

In my old dept, everyone works till late! I've got to say this again but xinyi worked till 3am on one night! She has really got the drive man.

Back to that lady. In the end, I told her to come some other time at 11am. She bargained to 10am. I guess cos 12 is her lunch break.

It's hard to be motivated with such uninspiring people around. I wanna be as driven as my prof, the research coordinators, nurses, doctors! Lazy people should be fired.

Phuket 2011

I went for a short getaway with Jeffrey to Phuket! Surprisingly, I didn't take as many pictures as I usually would. Maybe Phuket was toooooo beautiful that I didn't wanna take it off my eyes. haha! Okay LAME.

I love Patong beach for it's "wavy" sea. Get it? haha! I love to ride on the waves! A bit scary thou. I can imagine a tsumani coming up to engulf me. I would love to try surfing too! But, I fear that my contacts will drop off when the water hits me. Too bad then.

If only Phuket wasn't so touristy. Everything felt more ex than usual. Like a ride from hotel to airport can cost SGD$30. Felt a bit overpriced. And we had a seafood meal which costed more than SGD$200!!!! Crazy right? But we had the most awesome lobster ever.

Another thing. Everything also MUST bargain. Stupid me didn't ask the market rate for the tour. A Phi Phi Island tour should cost only about 1400 Baht. But we paid 1900 Baht. Cos we saw that the advertised rate was 3000 Baht. We thought we got a good price. So, conclusion is, always research before going anywhere!

Phuket is way too touristy alr. Guess it's how the locals earn. I like the beach thou! I'm beginning to like beaches! Langkawi is still my first love. haha!

Resolution 2012

I enjoyed 2011 to the max. 2 resolutions that I made it was:

1. Mt Kinabalu!!! (with Xinyi!)

2. Ran 10km (with Michelle. didn't actually run but still).

So, for 2012,

1. I wanna climb Mt Rinjani!

2. 21km. Need to test see if I can survive 21km before I try 42km.

3. Travel alone (not sure how I can do that, cos of my super paranoid parents)

4. Travel MORE ( i wanna go cambodia, vietnam)

5. Find a job that i REALLY like (e.g. like i don't mind staying till damn late to work. like how xinyi used to stay till 3am to do her research. haha!)

6. Have the time of my life!

Marathon

I'm determined to do the Stan Chart marathon next year!!! So many inspiring posts on facebook. I just have to do it!!! My resolution!!!

I'll do a 10km (for warm up), a 21km (to test my strength) and finally a 42.135 something km for a full marathon!!! I'll do it!!!

Heard the news that someone passed away from a 21km run. Poor thing. I always believe in mind over body. Apparently, not in his case.

Will I survive the run??? I'll try next year!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

A few days back was my 25th birthday. Happy birthday to me! So old, getting useless. Gotta come up with a list of things I wanna do before I turn 26! Will think about it...

Meanwhile, thanks friends for the wishes! I had a great birthday. Sky dining at Mt Faber, Tintin at Gold class GV, $300 F21 vouchers (all courtesy of Jeffrey), a book of singlish (Lyn), belt (Michelle), cupcakes (baked specially by Shuling)and a very nice fossil bag (from family!)! Thanks all for the celebration! :)

FML day, AT WORK

It's a million time worse than a normal FML day. Everyone seems so mad at me today! Okay maybe not directly at me. But they're so pissy, so black-faced! I know we work in a hospital, where it's dark and gloomy everyday. But why extra bad today???

Freaking sian mood. And worse, I had to lunch in. I never lunch in ever since I joined my new dept. But today, I had no one to eat with! (Might have someone but lazy to ask). Not that I've issues eating alone. But I don't wanna see people I know. Gotta make small talks. I hate it.

I officially declare, today as the worse day of my working life!

But on a slightly happier note, the clerks were so appreciative when I nominated them for the cashier's award. Though it's just a $10 voucher. Still! It's the award that matters!

On another happier than happy note, a colleague said I look smart (as in my dressing! I was wearing my pink stripped blouse. I wore it cos it's like a pajamas top! Very comfy. haha!) Too bad I forgot her name. She's actually very nice! hee!!!

Cameron Highlands!

I made Jeffrey buy bigdeal.sg coupons cos I really wanted to go Cameron Highlands. Been there when I was in Sec 1 with school. Loved the cooling weather!

But Jeffrey had to go overseas for work! So last min. I asked a couple of friends, and all weren't free, except Shu hui! Thank goodness. If not I"ll have to go alone! I'll die on the bus without company! haha.

The bus ride there was soooooo comfortable. Think we got the super VIP bus! But the bus on our way back was horrible. The normal ones. No movie, no electronically adjustable seats etc. But we slept all the way!

It's a good place to slack. So breezy and cooling. Unlike the humid and hot weather in Singapore. But I won't know what to do if I stay there for long. Unless I grow tea, or stawberry there! hahaha!

FML day

1. Bf bought final destination tixs when I bought them ytd to watch with my friend on Monday. Thus, I've to watch it TWICE.

2. Stupid guy who sat in front of me had spiky hair. I couldn't see properly. Had to crane my neck.

3. Friend took my zoo card. I've no idea how I'm going to get it back.

4. Friend didn't even use my zoo card cos his gf didn't want to go. Now must go through all the trouble for nothing.

5. Tan Kin Lian so poor thing.

6. Chelsea might draw, again. Sian.

Stupid day.

Going budget

I love going budget. My way of life:

Digging for a good book in the lib, instead of buying off the shelf.

Taking bus, no matter how late it's, instead of paying for overpriced cab.

Watching soccer off live streaming, instead of paying for cable TV.

Stealing my sis's clothes to wear, instead of buying my own. ha!

Jogging around my home with scenic route and lots of fresh air, instead of going to smelly gym.

Taking good old budget airline, instead of expensive "serviced" airlines.

I find joy in saving money! (Not that I've a lot to begin with. and my pay is miserable. and I spend it all on travelling.)

But I'm not a miserable old fart sitting around lamenting about the lack of money. Love the excitement when I find good deals! Going budget, my way of life!

Mt Rinjani

I should have joined ODEC in uni. Then I'll have lots of trekking friends. Now so sian. My trekking buddy, Xinyi, is overseas! But when she's back for good, we'll go for Mt Fuji and Great wall of china! But now, I'm all alone!!!!! So sian.

Calis ROM

haha obviously it's not my wedding. It's the ROM of my very good friend, Shiting! So weird to call her Calis. But she goes by that name now.

She looks soooo pretty in her cheongsam! I love it! Everyone looks good in cheongsam (like my dajie when she wore for her wedding).
Everything went well for the wedding! But Shiting was so panicky before that. So funny. But it's perfectly normal to be nervous for the bride! And she loves the songs that I got for her!!!

And the funniest thing was, she added the liverpool song. hahaha! I told her already but she seems to like that song. Anyway got meaning too. She'll never walk alone anymore! She got her husband! (So weird to call her bf husband now).

As everyone knows, I'm into Chelsea. But too bad Chelsea is playing on a weekday. Arsenal too. 2 of my fav teams. :( But it's okay! Cos there's liverpool! An enemy of an enemy is a friend!!!! :)))))

Going KL tomorrow!!! Why don't the teams come to Singapore? Stadium too small? Singapore team too lousy? HIGHLY LIKELY! hahhaa.

I'm damn energetic now!!! Gotta wake up at 520am though. hahaha. I'm just so excited!!!
